How long does it take to get used to dentures?
It is natural for new dentures to feel awkward for a while. This stage can last from a few weeks to a few months. Things like eating and speaking will take some practice. While your cheeks and tongue become used to holding the dentures in place, they may feel a little loose in your mouth. While you are getting used to your dentures, excess saliva flow may also occur. All of these things should improve and then cease with time.
How long will my dentures last?
With time, your dentures will need to be relined, remade or rebased because of normal wear. This is because your mouth will change as you age. These changes can result in dentures becoming loose, which can make eating and chewing problematic. How do I clean my dentures?
Brush your dentures every day to remove food particles and plaque. When you’re not wearing your dentures, place them in a water or a denture cleanser soaking solution. Also, be sure to brush your gums, tongue and palate every day before putting your dentures in.
